- Last but not least: we got a warning by Gudmund being at home: no wild photography on base,
please! Would be noce to get some photographs by him he took on the base today.
- Heavy flight day with heavy dropping (38 dropsondes !!) today. It might to be explored if
our droppings made the eye into the cyclone or the reality wasn't affected by the observations
at all ..... Anyway, the Arctic cyclone evolved
as expected and not as fast as I thought these meso-cyclones explode. We ran many times through
it and the hero of the day was Christian who managed even to submit the WMO messages into the
GTS with Emma's help. On the other
side a bad day for our lidar instruments: Stephan and Rudi fought with the hard discs and are
probably not operational tomorrow. We will see what he DIAL measurements will bring, the range
we could do observations was not great. And some additional hours were spent in the hangar to
adjust the laser ... Pictures below are from today 14:17 UTC (left) and from
4 Mar 03:13 UTC.
