4 March 2008
- The polar low said "Good Bye" and disappeared silently while we were eating
Crepes prepared in a multi-national effort and initiated by Vanda.
- After a short debriefing, we discussed the plans for the remaining time of the
campaign and decided to start the planning for the EUFAR-GREENEX project very soon.
But first we need a rest not only to rest but also to have time to look into the data
and to explore what we can do with our instruments in this environment.
- The Falcon took off in time and returned 14:30 LT. All (remaining) instruments worked well.
- We followed yesterday's idea to map the polar low with a third flight. A flight
plan was constructed which satisfied interests of both the remote-sensing instruments
and the dropsondes. Again, this will be a heavy dropping day for Christian.
The bad news is that the wind lidar cannot fly today as the controller problem is not
yet solved. Rudi removed the control unit from the aircraft and started to repair it.
Spare parts will be shipped from Germany by Martin.
