- Gudmund is back and he brought T-shirts for the campaign member. His blog can now
found under Gudmunds Log. Unfortunately, his
nice pictures are not online.
- Jon Egill, Mel and myself started the preparation for the envisaged
Iceland/Greenland flights. After making once more clear, that the primary
payload are the two lidar systems, we came up with a compromise that
even Mel could live with. I will discuss this with our instrument people
after they return from the research flight.
- Our current thoughts are to preform three flight including transfer. The main research
flight for the strong winds in the Danmark Strait will be centred around 12 UTC on Sunday.
The (mainly dropsonde) observations under cloudy conditions are expected to impact the
forecast of the developing cyclones the following day. The other two flights will be
designed that we get wind and water vapor profiles: On the way back to Andens on Monday we
will fly along the coast of Greenland on Monday
when humidity decreases to measure the flow over the pack ice and over open water,
probably combined with flux measurements. Saturday plans are still vague.
