Venue and Travel InformationVenueThe TAC-4 conference will take place at the Hotel Schillingshof. Special rates for lodging at the Schillingshof will be available until 14 April 2015 (extended to 21 April). Rooms are blocked until that date. Please use the reservation form provided here and send it to the hotel via email or fax. Travel InformationBad Kohlgrub can be reached by car or by plane and train. The nearest airports are: From Munich airport take the S-Bahn to Munich central station (München Hauptbahnhof). You can take either line: S8 or S1. It takes around 45min. From Hauptbahnhof trains go to Bad Kohlgrub via Murnau (1.5 hours). You have to change the train in Murnau. This connection runs every hour. The cheapest ticket is the Bavarian ticket ("Bayern ticket"). It is valid for a whole day (weekdays from 9am on only, on weekend days no restrictions) in local trains accross Bavaria (this also includes the Munich S-Bahn). It is 23 Euro for one person, each additional person 5 Euro extra. More information can be found here. From Innsbruck airport take a bus to Innsbruck Hötting. From there trains depart to Munich/Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Get off in Murnau and take the train to Bad Kohlgrub (overall travel time 2.5 hours). This connection runs every two hours. Connections can be searched on the website of the German railway company www.bahn.de or the Austrian railway company www.oebb.at (if you travel via Innsbruck).
As an example, screenshots of connection requests for Sunday 21st of June afternoon can be found for Munich to Bad Kohlgrub and for Innsbruck to Bad Kohlgrub . You can modify the settings according to your arrival time at the airport. The Hotel Schillingshof is about 1.5km away from the train station. We can organise shuttle service by the hotel. Bus shuttle airport Munich - conference hotelIn short (9th of June): Unfortunately, not enough persons signed up for the service on Sunday afternoon. So we can not offer a service from Munich airport to the conference hotel.We may still offer a service on Thursday right after the conference ends. The estimated arrival time at the airport is earlier than 4:30pm. You can still sign up for this. The decision whether or not the service is offered is made on Monday 22nd of June (the first day of the conference). We expect most participants to arrive on Sunday. Most likely we can offer two connections probably around 1pm and 5pm on this day. Similarly, Thursday afternoon one transfer is planned. The bus departure on Thursday is at 2pm right after the lunch. The bus ride is supposed to take around two hours. So you may catch flights departing later than 5:30pm, however we cannot give any warranty. The times will be adjusted to the arrival/departure times of your flights, especially on Sunday. If you are interested in using the bus shuttle, please write an email to Simon Unterstrasser with your estimated arrival/departure times at the airport and whether you want to make use of it on Sunday and/or Thursday. The bus shuttle is not covered by the conference fee. The one-way ticket is 30 euros which has to be paid in cash at the conference. For your convenience it is not necessary to pay it in the bus upon arrival. Minimum number of travelers per tour is twelve. TAC-4 2015 home |
