The BOLIDE/PMC-Turbo campaign website has moved here.
to the webpages of the middle atmosphere group of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics at the German Aerospace Center in Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. Our matrix group has members from several departments working together on physics of the middle atmosphere. We are committed to dynamical studies of the atmosphere, from the sources at ground to the lower thermosphere. Our prime interests are:

We specialize in the development of middle atmosphere lidar instruments on the forefront of technology. If you see a bright, green beam in the night sky, it might be us. Several instruments were and are developed for ground-based, balloon-borne and airborne platforms and employed during world-wide field ampaigns. The lidars are often supplied by OH airglow instruments or set up in the vicinity of meteor radars, or are synchronized with radiosonde launches during field campaigns. We make extensive use of ECMWF data and a number of models to aid data analysis. We have close collaborations with national and international partners during field campaigns and scientific data analysis.
This webpage collects information on our instruments, campaigns and publications and directions to presentations, campaign webpages, databases and media coverage. The matrix group's leader is Bernd Kaifler. The webpage is maintained by Natalie Kaifler. Please contact us with questions, ideas or requests concerning data usage. We can provide specific high-level datasets for your scientific needs.
