Campaign diary on 30 August 2008

After the mission today, the team was somewhat frustrated. Again no wind lidar observations and the observational coverage of the DIAL was much lower than expected based on model forecasts. After getting over the disppointment however, it seems that the DIAL water vapour observations have a lower coverage than expected, but are still very interesting. In addition, there are good water vapour observations. The ET group wants to perform a follow-on mission tomorrow, where I am afraid that observational coverage could be even worse than today. Given the calm typhoon conditions however, it was decided to perform the mission as we need to take every opportunity that we get.
